Mount Rinjani3 day/2night to summit & Lake
The Mount Rinjani peak & Lake package lasts three days and two nights, and it includes a trek that leads through the stunning Gunung Rinjani National Park and ends at the peak (12,224 feet / 3726 meters). In contrast to the 2-day/1-night package, the trail zigzags down to lake Segara Anak and the relaxing thermal springs as it descends into the huge caldera of Mount Rinjani. This offers an amazing scene and an unforgettable experience. In addition to swimming in the lake, you may relax in the mineral-rich hot springs and take in the view of the nearby active volcano. The package we most often suggest to serious hikers and alpinists is the Mount Rinjani 3-day, 2-night journey, since it offers the most comprehensive experience of the National Park.
“A moment that would change your life!”
This was the first-ever customer review we received for this incredible three-day experience, and we have since received many more similar comments (please see our TripAdvisor page here for more reviews).
Why choose us?
Numerous businesses provide trekking on Mount Rinjani; some are seasoned and well-run, while others are not. Our founding values of Rinjani Origin were customer service and sustainability. We focused on creating experiences that we would want to have ourselves while designing our tours, so they could accommodate our diverse range of clients. We understand that for many of you, this may be your first mountain climb; without the right assistance, gear, food, or direction, it can be frightening and dangerous. With an elevated level customer to guide and porter ratio, we provide small groups. We have the greatest equipment on the mountain and the best safety record. Apart from our expertise and security, we take great satisfaction in being an environmentally and socially responsible operation. We have an ongoing commitment to our local village and are dedicated to providing valuable income and support to our porters and guides.
Transport and Lodging – Before the Trek
We include transport (pick-up and drop-off) from hotels in North Lombok. If you are staying on mainland Lombok (not the Gili’s) we can arrange to pick you up early on the morning of the trek. If you are staying on the Gilis the night before the trek, you will have to arrange a private speedboat to take you to the mainland (Bangsal Harbour) early enough for us to collect you. transport to Senaru can be changed to the day before, should you wish to spend the night in Senaru before the trek.
* Price is based on 2 people minimum. If a solo traveler / private tour, the cost will be higher. If you are booking for more than 2 people, we can give you a discounted rate. If you have your own transport, or are in Senaru, we can give you a discounted price (as transport accounts for most of our costs). Please send an enquiry if you have any questions, we will be delighted to help you in any way we can.
* Please note that although the displayed price is in USD, our tours are invoiced in Indonesian Rupiah. The reason we list our tours in USD is to make it easier for customers to understand the price. The price of this package is 4,500,000 IDR per person.

Day 2: Sembalun Crater Rim > Summit > Lake > Senaru Crater Rim
Approximately 10 hours trekking, 1042m ascent, 2757m descent 2:00 AM – Wake-Up and Light Breakfast:
Experience the ultimate trekking adventure with Rinjani Origin, conquering the summit of Mount Rinjani and exploring its stunning crater lake and ridgelines! Day 2 is a big day. There will be the option to either camp at the lake, or continue to Senaru Crater Rim, depending on the fitness levels of the group, and other factors. We used to favor starting in Senaru and finishing in Sembalun, but now favour starting in Sembalun and finishing in Senaru. This is due to the path down from Senaru Crater Rim to the lake getting damaged during the 2018 earthquakes. Trekking Duration: Approximately 6-8 hours Vertical Ascent: 950 meters Vertical Descent: 1730 meters Early Morning:
- Wake-Up Call: Your guide will wake you up around 2:00 – 2:30 AM, depending on the expected pace of the group.
- Pre-Trek Snack: Enjoy a hot drink and snack before departing the Plawangan Sembalun basecamp.
Trek to Mt. Rinjani Summit:
- Start Ascent: Begin the challenging trek to the summit of Gunung Rinjani. The steep gradient and soft ground make this a difficult climb. Use a head torch as it will be dark until sunrise, unless there is a full moon.
- Guided Ascent: Stay with your guide at all times due to exposed areas on the ridgeline. Regular short rests will be taken, but it’s crucial to keep moving to stay warm and reach the summit for sunrise.
- Summit Arrival: It typically takes 3-4 hours to reach the summit. Enjoy a hot drink and snacks (usually energy bars) prepared by your guide. Take in the sunrise, the panoramic views, and celebrate your achievement.
Descent to Sembalun Crater Rim Campsite:
- Return to Basecamp: Descend back to the Plawangan Sembalun campsite, which usually takes about an hour.
- Breakfast: Upon return, enjoy a hearty breakfast prepared by your porters.
Descent to the Lake:
- Start Descent: Begin the descent to the lake from Plawangan Sembalun. The trail includes steep sections, so stay close to your guide for safety.
- Arrival at the Lake: Descend 780 vertical meters to the lake, which sits at 2000m above sea level. This usually takes 2-3 hours.
- Lunch and Thermal Springs: Have lunch at the lake and take the opportunity to bathe in the nearby thermal springs, just a 10-minute walk from the lake.
Ascent to Senaru Crater Rim:
- Post-Lunch Ascent: Start the ascent to the Senaru Crater Rim after lunch and a rest. The climb is steep and similar to the descent from Plawangan Sembalun, taking about 2-3 hours.
Evening:
- Set-Up Camp: If you proceed to Senaru Crater Rim, your guide and porters will set up camp and prepare dinner. Enjoy the magnificent views and a well-deserved rest after a strenuous day.
Camping Details:
- Tent Accommodation: Similar to Day 1, tents will be prepared for you, with the option for single or shared accommodation.
Day 3: Senaru Crater Rim > Senaru Village
- Breakfast at Lake Segara Anak: Begin your day with a hearty breakfast by the serene Lake Segara Anak.
- Start Ascent: Commence the hike out of the crater to Senaru Crater Rim. This part of the trek involves steep climbing and some scrambling, ascending from 2004m AMSL to 2640m AMSL. This segment typically takes 2-3 hours.
- Photo Opportunity: Take a break at Plawangan Senaru, a perfect vantage point for capturing stunning photos of the surrounding landscape.
- Start Descent: Begin the walk off the mountain, with regular stops for rest and hydration. After about an hour, you’ll enter the forest, providing shade and cooler temperatures.
- Forest Trek: Continue through the forest. The descent from Senaru Crater Rim to Senaru Village usually takes 4-5 hours, depending on the fitness levels of the group. Use walking poles for extra stability on the steep sections.
- Refreshments: Upon reaching Senaru Village, enjoy some refreshments provided by our team.
- Meet Your Driver: After relaxing, meet your driver who will take you to your final destination.
- Tipping: While it is customary to tip the porters and guides, it is entirely up to you.
Book Mt Rinjani Trek!
Important, please read!
If you want to book a tour for the coming days, please contact us via WhatsApp (+62 8316 6547 475) in addition to filling out the enquiry form. Mount Rinjani National Park has an entrance ticket system, that limits numbers on the mountain. We have to ensure there are tickets available, before we can confirm a trek (hence the reason why we need as much notice as possible, and you should try to book in advance, rather than leaving it to the last minute). Sometimes the internet in Senaru drops-out, so please contact us via phone or WhatsApp if your enquiry is urgent.
